Doug & Jessy’s Engagement {Lenoir City, TN}

Their story goes way back to Lenoir City High School when Doug transferred in following his freshman year. They met in an agriculture class they both took. After their graduation, by act of providence, Doug & Jessy would find themselves working together at a local feed store. And leave it up to Doug’s parents, Rebecca & Mark, to plant the seed as they would always tell Jessy that she needed to “drag Doug out of the house” one weekend. He took the hint & eventually asked her out on a date on April 27, 2006… they’ve been together since.

With his sense of humor & her beautiful smile, they make a great couple. And their interests are the same as well. Doug lives on his family’s farm & together they raise sheep. It doesn’t hurt, either, that Jessy is a lecturer at the University of Tennessee in the Department of Animal Science, so they know exactly what they’re doing.

Not too long ago, Jessy was greeting at her car by their Weimeraner, Lucy, who was wearing a pink bandana. Lucy jumped in her lap as she opened the door & Jessy noticed a beautiful ring tied to Lucy’s collar. Doug came to the car, got down on one knee, & asked her to marry him. She said ‘yes,’ of course!

And, of course, we decided to do their engagement photos on Doug’s family’s farm. It was unreal!

The Key’s {Fall 2011 Lifestyle Session}

If you’ve been checking in with this cute family throughout the year, you’ll be excited to see these little guys walking around. Lucas & Sullivan Key are the twin boys of Micki & Brian Key. I love recalling memories from my time with these guys.

I met up with the Key family last week to play in the leaves at a local park. The boys brought their Tennessee footballs and wore their UT shirts so the orange and yellow glow coming through the trees was perfect. At this age it’s hard to catch them still so we got in our exercise. I really love this family & can’t wait until the next time I see them again! Enjoy!

Michael & Jamie {Mayfield Farms Wedding | Athens, TN}

It only takes a minute before you realize how crazy Michael & Jamie are about each other. When I photographed their engagement in July I spent most of the time wearing a huge grin behind my camera; their excitement & joy for one another was contagious.

On September 10, Michael & Jamie, became husband & wife. The anticipation was heightened when I realized all the details they had considered. When I stepped inside the barn on the night of the rehearsal, my mind raced with eagerness at how beautiful a ceremony would be the following evening. The scene was set, & it was lovely. First, a look at the wedding rehearsal at the Mayfield Barn followed by dinner at their lake house.

Michael’s mother, Lisa, was raised in Mobile, AL (location of my Alma Mater!), so she had crab legs brought in for the occasion. And, of course, they had Michael’s favorite, fried okra!

As a gift to the guests, Michael & Jamie made jams from strawberries & blackberries grown on the farm. Such a great idea! “It began in the berry patch,” refers to where Michael proposed to Jamie.

Lillian Prince - LOVE!!!

Mike & Erin {Athens, TN Country Wedding}

They both worked in the same line of business & when Mike’s company sent him on a road trip, he visited the offices of where Erin worked. When they met she was occupied with work but a great first impression make a mark on him. That initial conversation led him to mention to a buddy, “I just met the girl that I’m going to marry!” And he was absolutely right! And that’s how a Fort Collins, CO girl finds herself in the arms of an East TN boy. It’s the story of Mike & Erin.

Two short Saturdays ago I was honored to photograph their wonderful wedding. Thank you Mike & Erin for allowing me to be a part of such a special day. You guys were really fun… here’s a quick recap of the day!

Halloween ’11 {Mayfield Farm and Nursery, Athens, TN}

It’s become a family tradition. We get the kiddos all dressed up for Halloween & meet up with my sister’s family. We then head a few short miles over to Mayfield Farm and Nursery. This place is by far one of our favorite places in the world & our kids ignite with enthusiasm as we pull up to the farm. They’ve become so fond of Michael, our friend who owns/runs the farm, that I recently overhead Brennan in the playroom pushing his tractor saying, “I’m Michael Mayfield, let’s pick some corn!” Ha… love it!

Last night we continued the tradition & had such a great time. Of course I had my camera in hand & I found myself overjoyed at how richly I am blessed as I photographed the ones I love the most. This is my life!

My boys, the Sock Monkeys! Could they be any cuter?! And what about my Molly… that girl has my heart! She was a teddy bear, or as I called her ‘Molly-bear.’ Here she is with my dad.

And we fed the goats & baby pigs. The boys really love animals as it reminds them of Joy’s parents’ home (pics from their farm Day 1 & Day 2.) By the way, I’m still trying to convince Joy to let me get a llama for our back yard… who’s with me?! I heart llamas!
