It’s not hard for me to love the Whaley’s. I’ve known Shayne for as long as I can remember as we grew up going to the same school. Also, his family were members of the church that I often attended & we spent many summers at “Sonburn” church camp in Panama City, FL. He’s always been a wonderful guy with an exceptional gift of encouragement.

I was thrilled to schedule a newborn session for Shayne & his sweet wife, Gail, with their new addition, Emi Kate. It was a pleasure to visit their home & catch a glimpse into their lives. 6 week old, Emi Kate, is as cute as ever & I loved holding her tiny little self. Here’s a glimpse into our time together. Thanks Whaley family!!!

The Ketchams | Newborn Lifestyle Session

My favorite class in elementary school was always PE (Physical Education)… gym class. My friends & I lived for gym class. I mean really, what’s not to love about playing kickball, soccer, basketball, flag football, four-square & calling it educational?! These are the things we boys lived for. But, there were always days in gym class that were the worst… when a girl beats your time in the mile run. Laura was that girl who could always humble the guys when it came to distance running. Plus, she was crazy smart!

Well, she still is crazy smart! Laura & her husband, Mike, live in Chattanooga, TN where she practices law & he is in restaurant management. They recently welcomed their little guy Andrew Thurman Ketcham to the world. What a cute little man! I greatly enjoyed seeing Laura again & getting to know Mike better… a great guy!

It was such a pleasure to meet up with the Ketcham family at their home on Thursday to capture this season of their lives. Thanks Ketcham family!

Andrew’s nursery is amazing… really well done!I love shooting from the perspective of the baby… Andrew has these little monkeys to keep him company!Mike is such a proud daddy… plus, he’s got great ideas that really added to the session. I told him I was going to have to take him to sessions with me.Love that little bottom lip sticking out… he wasn’t the biggest fan of having to have his diaper changed.

Keely Kessler | Infant Session

I always get a little nervous right before a newborn shoot, kind of like when I played soccer in college… you know, right before the game. I get zoned-in & start thinking through my execution strategy & try to make sure I relax & do what I am trained to do.

So… as I was headed to photograph 8 week-old little miss Keely Kessler, I had a ton of thoughts going through my head, “Will I be able to get the look I am wanting?” “Will she be too alert & more difficult to soothe?” “Is she in the development stage where she won’t lay still yet can’t hold her head up?” I was fairly nervous… I wanted to provide the Kessler family (Michael, Mindy, Nathan & Keely) with the perfect images. They are a wonderful family that I had the privilege of photographing this past December when Mindy was pregnant with Keely (their post here).

Sometimes you get worked up for no reason. Keely was perfect! I immediately went to work & had such a wonderful time documenting this stage of Keely’s life. Thanks Kessler family for letting me share this occasion with you guys!

Keely has the most gorgeous olive colored skin & beautiful dark hair (& a bunch of it I might add!).

Despite my best efforts to “pose” Keely, she resorted to the position of comfort… love it! I kept thinking, “What I wouldn’t give to be able to sleep that soundly!”

She was all smiles & giggles for her momma.The next few images are likely my favorite pics of the day… absolutely classic. Look at those eyes… wow!Could it be that I’m seriously jealous of this little girl’s hair?! She looks like a little rockstar.

The Tumlin Kiddos | Alice & Jason

Alice Nadine is the newborn baby to Kevin & Dana Tumlin & sister of big brother, Jason. I met Dana through our Trinity Tots (a local Mother’s Day Out program) where our son Brennan goes to ‘school’ once a week. I did a shoot last fall for my nephews & their friends that included Jason (click here). I was thrilled to have another opportunity to photograph for the Tumlins & it was fun to meet the recent arrival, Alice. Here are some of my favs:

Jason is a handsome little guy… he allowed me about 10 shots total; glad I captured some good ones!

Headful of hair… I wish I still had that much hair on my head… ugh!

Hudson & Harrison

I met up with Hudson Hilton the other day & he wanted to find a special way to introduce everyone to his new little brother, or “brudder,” Harrison Cooper Hilton… so come on in…

Here’s the little guy… Harrison Cooper. He is the latest arrival for Ben & Jennifer Hilton. He was such a great baby; so easy to shoot. When they arrived, I picked him up & bounced him in my arms & within minutes he was asleep.

This pic really shows his red hair… just like his momma! I’ve known Jennifer (their momma) as far as I can remember; she’s always a pleasure to be around! Her & her husband, Ben, live in the Atlanta (Buckhead) area.

This cracked me up… when I laid him down, he immediately turned his face down.

Here are the two boys together.

The Hilton’s are huge Georgia fans; apparently it runs deep on both sides of the family.

Thanks so much Hilton & Wear crew. I had a great time photographing these two boys.

Capri Violet Grace Nation | Newborn Session

Be very quiet… baby is sleeping; you must whisper!

Everyone, I’d like to introduce to you Capri Violet Grace Nation. Capri was welcomed into the world by her parents, Don & Alison Nation, on November 30th. She weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz. Don & Alison are some of my favorite people & you may recall the maternity shoot I did with Alison in late October. Well, this is the wonderful gift the Nation family has been given.

This is probably my favorite image from the session.

Don’t you wish you could sleep so sound! You can really see her red hair in this one.

Love this one!

She’s surrounded by all of her plush, furry friends. This is one of my favorites.

I shot this one with my lens pointed through the railing in the crib; it created a nice vignette.
